Bridge Street AME - Host Church: The 190th Session of the New York Annual Conference will be held at Bridge Street AME Church, Brooklyn, NY., April 23-29, 2012. Rev. David B. Cousin, Sr., is the Host Pastor.-----The African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church, also known as Bridge Street AWME Church, is documented as the oldest continuing black congregation in the Brooklyn-Long Island area. This unique congregation, located in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant, was organized in 1766 and incorporated in 1818. It traces its missionary origin to Captain Thomas Webb, a British convert of John Wesley, who was the father of Methodism in America. The AWME Church has been affiliated with the A.M.E. Denomination since 1820.
